Week Ahead: Suit Fittings, Practice Schedule, Kona Ice, and Meet Info
Tiger Sharks had a great week at the pool! The coaches are seeing a lot of progress and we are getting excited for our first AWAY meet on Saturday, May 30. Looking forward to the week ahead, please take a few moments to read through these important reminders and instructions.
No Practice, May 19, 20, 21:
The last week of school is always crazy! Both of our awesome coaches are teachers in Comal ISD and they are busy wrapping up their school year. On top of that Coach Allison is preparing for a BIG graduation celebration. Congrats Hannah!
There will be no practice this week. Evening practice will resume Tuesday, May 26 and we will shift to our morning practice schedule the following week beginning on Tuesday, June 2.
Swim Suit Fittings Tuesday May 19 5 pm - 7 pm
Our MSSL league sponsor, Swim Freak, will be at the pool on Tuesday, May 19 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM for team suit fittings. Stop by at your convenience at any time during this window. There will be NO PRACTICE this day.
If your swimmer needs a new swimsuit this season, you may purchase the 2026 Team Suit in person that day, you may order online, or you can go to one of their locations. The nearest location to us is:
SwimFreak Thousand Oaks
2250 Thousand Oaks, Ste. 206
More information can be found on our Team Suit Information Page.
Get Ready for Swim-A-Thon:
Our annual Swim-A-Thon fundraiser will be Thursday, May 28 during your swimmer’s regular practice time.
The Swim-A-Thon is a fundraiser in which participants earn money for our swim team by swimming lengths of the pool. Prior to Swim-A-Thon, participants get pledges from businesses, family, neighbors, etc. Sponsors may choose to give a flat donation regardless of the number of lengths completed, while others may pledge a donation per length. On Swim-A-Thon day, participants have a designated time to swim as many lengths as they can to determine how much money they raise in pledges.
Why do we have Swim-A-Thon? We love our Tiger Sharks and all the hard work that they put into making each season better than the last. Funds earned from Swim-A-Thon help us provide the following to the team:
- Pay or coaches: Our coaching staff work hard, both in the pool and out! They work tirelessly to teach skills, keep our swimmers safe in the pool, and set-up the meet entries each week.
- Invest in the team: While our POA gives us access to the pool and facilities each summer for practice and meets, we must provide the supplies and equipment we need that is specific to swim team use. Last year we were able to purchase heavy duty vinyl backstroke flags AND new lane lines!
- Celebrate our swimmers: At the end of each summer we want to celebrate our hard work and successes with a fun end of season team party with prizes.
Collecting Pledges and Donations:
Pledge sheets are attached and Tiger Sharks can start collecting pledges from friends, families, neighbors, or even local businesses!
Donations can be made in cash or check made out to Lookout Canyon Tiger Sharks.
You do not need to bring donations or pledge sheets to the pool on Swim-A-Thon day. Each swimmer will receive an official sheet showing how many lengths he or she completed, and will use this to tally and collect pledged donations.
All donations are due to Ashlie by Wednesday, June 3.
Kona Ice at Swim-A-Thon!
We are excited to recognize the hard work and effort our swimmers put into practice, swim-a-thon, and meets. To celebrate the start of a great season, Kona Ice will be in the pavilion parking lot from 5 pm - 7 pm on Thursday, May 28 during our annual Swim-A-Thon Fundraiser. Each swimmer will receive a ticket for 1 free Klassic Kona size snow cone! Families and residents will have the option to purchase additional treats for non-swim members. You may choose to come early to enjoy your treats (and then swim off the sugar), or stay after your regular swim time. Please note that the truck will leave at 7:00 PM so swimmers with later practice times should plan to come early.
Declare Swimmers and Volunteer for Meets:
Meet declarations and volunteer sign up is officially open! Please take a few minutes to declare your swimmer and sign up to volunteer at each meet. Attached are two sets of instructions:
- How to Declare Your Swimmer
- How to Sign Up for Volunteer Jobs
If you are new to swimming, please take time to review these documents.
Meet declarations will close at 8 PM on Thursdays before Saturday meets and at 8 PM on Friday before our Monday night meet. If your swimmer is not declared, they may not be scheduled for individual events or team relays.
Please reach out if you have any questions!
Thanks,
Ashlie
