Lookout Canyon Tiger Sharks Parent Meeting Information

We are so excited to kick off the 2026 swim season with all of our returning and new Tiger Shark families! Please take this time to read through this important start of season information and familiarize yourself with the information available on our team page.

    Pool and Facility Usage:

All Lookout Canyon POA families should complete your facility waiver for 2026 and review the Pool Rules provided by the POA:

Residents should bring their pool access card to every practice and home meet, and make sure that your card is labeled with a name and phone number in case of loss.

Non-resident swimmers are not permitted to purchase a pool access card, but our coaches, board, and parents will ensure that you are able to access the pool and facilities for all events.

    Practice

We encourage you to attend as many practices as possible, but we understand that families are busy and things come up that may prevent your attendance. You are not required to notify coaches if you have to miss practice.

For the month of May, we will practice Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at the following times:

    • Ages 6 and under: 5:00 - 5:30 PM
    • Ages 7 - 8: 5:30 - 6:00 PM
    • Ages 9-10: 6:00 - 6:30 PM
    • Ages 11+: 6:30 - 7:00 PM

Please make sure that your swimmer has an appropriate suite, goggles, and a towel for each practice.

Please note: We will not have practice the week of May 19.

    Swimsuits

Swim Freak is an official sponsor of the Maverick Swim League and they will be at our pool from 5:00 - 7:00 PM on Tuesday, May 19 for swimsuit fittings and purchases. Although we do not have practice on that day, swim team board members will host representatives from Swim Freak at the pool for fittings and purchases.

If you are not able to attend practice on this date and wish to purchase a team suit, you may visit the Thousand Oaks location of Swim Freak to purchase your suit.

You are not required to wear a team suit to practice, however we do require all female swimmers to wear a one-piece suit to avoid any issues as swimmers practice diving off the blocks.

    Swim Meet and Volunteer Positions:

We need YOU to volunteer at swim meets! It takes approximately 50 people per meet to make it happen. Please take time to log into your Swimtopia account and sign up to volunteer at each meet. Volunteer sign-up can be found on the swim meets page and each family is required to earn a minimum of 8 volunteer points.

Please note that pool-side volunteers must be 18 years or older. If you have a middle or high school student that would like to earn community service hours, we encourage them to sign-up to work our concession stand!

If this is your first year on our swim team, check out our volunteer page on our website to learn more about each position.

Some positions are essential to running an effective meet and require additional league training.

    • Stroke and Turn Judge: Stands poolside and watches for swim stroke infractions. Requires easy training at a 2 hour league run free clinic to learn the current league & swim stroke rules. Great for people with competitive swim experience, but ANYONE can be taught at a free league clinic.
    • Meet Referee & Starter: Ensures fairness for all swimmers. Requires easy training at a free league run clinic and must have worked at least 1 year prior as a Stroke & Turn Judge. Knows the current league rules.

Maverick Swim League offers three opportunities for training:

    • When: Sunday May 3, Saturday May 16 and Sunday May 17.
    • Recertification sessions will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 pm.
    • New official training will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 pm.
