1st Tiger Shark Swim Meet Info!
Hello, Tiger Shark families! I hope you're all having an amazing first week of summer!
I can’t believe we are just 1/2 a short day away from our 1st meet of the 2024 season! We are SO excited to see our Tiger Sharks compete in the water on Saturday and I want to thank everyone for their support and continued patience as we've all been navigating our way through a very busy end of school year/start of summer transition!
I would like to give a HUGE ‘Thank You’ to our coaching staff, Coach Allison, Coach Allie and Coach Kam for their tremendous job well done over the last 4 weeks and to Erin Bell, Kelli Taylor and Michelle Russell, who have all risen to the occasion to help out however and wherever needed! They have been a dream team!
Okay, so let’s get started…if your swimmer is competing this weekend and has not received their cap, we will have them Saturday morning to distribute!
Now onto Saturdays HOME meet vs. the Stone Mountain Stingrays! Check-in time for all Tiger Sharks swimmers is no later than 6:45am and we will be warming up from 7:00-7:30am! Please make every effort to be there on time! Once they arrive, they need to check in with the Michelle Russell who will be located by the Scorekeepers table under the awning by the pump room. The visiting team will warmup at 7:30am and the meet will begin promptly at 8:00am.
You will find 3 documents attached in this email:
1) Meet Program (Heat Sheets) with Combined Events
2) Tiger Shark Athletes
3) Volunteer Duties
For our new families, the Meet Program/Heat Sheets are the order in which the meet will run. It lists the event name and number, heat number and then swimmers' names in the corresponding heats. Please print these off and bring them with you as we will not have extra copies. Click the link below for a quick guide on how to read a heat sheet!
How to Read a Heat Sheet
Please note the combined events that I have listed on the front page of the Meet Program. This is done when an event only has 1 heat and 1-3 swimmers in each event. Two or more events are combined if there are less than 6 swimmers collectively to speed up the meet and is very common practice.
The Athletes attachment is the Individual Swimmer Events by Alpha so you can see a list of your swimmer's event names and numbers. The first number is the event number, then the heat number/lane number and then the event name. Please pack sharpies for your swimmer to write their events on their arm! The coaches will be very busy with warmups and last minute meet changes so please ask someone other than them to assist with this!
The Volunteer Duties attachment is a list of all of Saturday’s parent volunteer jobs. Everyone, please look this over and if your name is on this list, you are responsible for working the job listed. If for any reason you cannot fulfill this job duty, you are responsible for securing your replacement. If you cannot find a replacement, please contact me ASAP! If you are volunteering, please check in with Erin Bell, who will be by the Scorekeepers table! If you are signed up to donate to the concession stand, a separate e-mail was sent to you earlier. All donations need to be dropped off to Kelli's house by tomorrow or at the pool on Saturday morning, no later than 7:30am!Upon arrival to the pool on Saturday morning, all families must park in the lower recreation area parking lot that is off of Overlook Pkwy, at Specht Elementary or on Little Brook, across the street from Lookout Canyon Creek. Please do not park ANYWHERE within the gates of Lookout Canyon Creek or your vehicle may be towed at your expense. The upper lot located within the gates of LOCC is reserved for both teams admins and coaches, as well as anyone who would need handicap parking. The parking lot at Specht Elementary will be available for parking as early as 6:00am and will remain open until noon. There will be security on sight that will help with the flow of traffic both before and after the meet.
Finally, it is important that our swimmers stay together near the Ready Bench area under the orange canopies! This meet will move very quickly and our Ready Bench volunteers cannot be running all over the pool looking for swimmers before events. It is the responsibility of the swimmer and their family to make sure they are at the Ready Bench spot prior to their events. If your swimmer cannot be found and they miss their event, there is nothing we can do! Please note, Ready Bench volunteers will be calling 8-10 events ahead, so stay alert!
Please take a minute to visit our website at lctigersharks.swimtopia.com and click on the “Swim Meets” tab for detailed information about the "Volunteer Duties" and "What to Bring to a Swim Meet," along with the "How to Read a Heat Sheet" link!
If you have any questions once you have read through this e-mail and the attachments, please don’t hesitate to reach out! I know this was a lot of information and we have a lot of 1st time families this season so I want to make sure everyone is comfortable going into the meet!
Thanks so much for all your support and we will see you Saturday when our Tiger Sharks take on the Stingrays in our 1st dual meet of the season!
See you at the pool!
Aubree Ramirez, Team Rep
