4th Dual Meet vs Promontory Point Piranhas!
Hello, Tiger Shark families! We cannot believe we are only 1 short day away from our very last dual meet of the season! It has flown by SO FAST and we don't want it to end!! Please read through the below meet information carefully and don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns!
- Our last dual meet is a HOME MEET, yay!! The meet will begin promptly at 8:00am so it's imperative that your swimmer is on time, as are you, if you are volunteering in any capacity!
- Check-in time for all Tiger Sharks swimmers is no later than 6:45am, as our warmup will be 7:00-7:30am, the Piranhas will warmup from 7:30-8:00am, and the meet will start promptly at 8:00am. Please make every effort to be there on time! Once swimmers arrive, they need to check in with Michelle Russell, who will be located right at the front gates as you enter the pool.
- Upon arrival to the pool on Saturday morning, all families must park in the lower recreation area parking lot that is off of Overlook Pkwy, at Specht Elementary or on Little Brook, across the street from Lookout Canyon Creek. Please do not park ANYWHERE within the gates of Lookout Canyon Creek or your vehicle WILL BE SUBJECT TO TOW AT YOUR EXPENSE. The POA president has really cracked down on the parking situation within the gates of LOCC and no parking/towing enforced signs are now up along the streets. There will be plenty of parking at Specht Elementary, with 1 caveat...you cannot access the parking lot through the side entrance off of Overlook Pkwy, due to the SAWS construction. Therefore, you have to turn into The Bluffs and enter the schools parking through the front entrance. Both sides of the parking lot at the school will be open. I encourage you to walk, bike or carpool if you are close to the pool, as we have almost all Tiger Sharks swimming this weekend and the visiting team has about 70 swimmers attending, so we expect the traffic on Overlook Pkwy to be a little nuts with the roads down to 1 lane on either side by the 4 way stop. We will however have security guards on premise that will be helping with traffic control.
- The upper parking lot located within the gates of LOCC is reserved for both teams boards and coaches, our meet officials, an anyone who would need handicap parking. The parking lot at Specht Elementary will be available for parking as early as 6:00am and will remain open until noon.
- Tiger Shark families can sit under the front covered patio, as well as on the right side of the pool area, under the big blue canopy and along the backside fence. Please leave the space that is all along the left side of the pool as you enter for our visiting team. They won't have as many people as we do but we still want to be respectful of their space and team. Please also be mindful of the concession stand and scorekeeper area and do not attempt to set up too close to those areas or directly in front of them, or you will be asked to move.
- The Volunteer Duties attachment is a list of all of Saturday's parent volunteer jobs. Everyone, please look this over and if your name is on this list, you are responsible for working the job listed. If for any reason you cannot fulfill this job duty, you are responsible for securing your replacement. If you cannot find a replacement, please contact me ASAP! If you are volunteering, please check in with Erin Bell, who will be located by the Scorekeeper table! PLEASE NOTE WE ARE STILL IN NEED OF CONCESSION STAND SHIFT WORKERS FOR ALL 3 SHIFTS, 1 HEAD TIMER AND 2 RUNNERS. WE REALLY, REALLY NEED THESE SHIFTS COVERED SO IF YOU HAVE NOT ALREADY VOLUNTEERED FOR THIS MEET, PLEASE CONSIDER HELPING US OUT. IF YOU ARE ABLE TO FULFILL ANY OF THESE JOBS, PLEASE TEXT ME ASAP!
- Finally, it is important that our swimmers stay together near the Ready Bench area under the orange canopies! This meet will move very quickly and our Ready Bench volunteers cannot be running all over the pool looking for swimmers before events. It is the responsibility of the swimmer and their family to make sure they are at the Ready Bench spot prior to their events. If your swimmer cannot be found and they miss their event, there is nothing we can do! Please note, Ready Bench volunteers will be calling 8-10 events ahead, so stay alert!
- Concessions will be available and we will be serving tacos, donuts, individual snacks, chips, cookies, candy, soda's, juices and water. Cash only & please bring small bills!
- The meet will last approximately 3-3 1/2 hours and the heat index for Saturday is 100' so please, please, please hydrate yourselves and your swimmers and keep them in shade as much as possible!
- The same 3 attachments are included in this email, Meet Program with Combined Events (subject to change up until 15 minutes before meet begins,) Swimmer Events by Alpha & Volunteer Duties.
Finally, I still have not heard from almost half of the team in regards to the Champs meet attendance survey that went out on Wednesday! It is VERY important that we get a good estimate of the number of swimmers that plan to attend Champs so please, if you have not already, fill out the below survey ASAP!
MSSL Champs Meet Attendance Survey
AND, if you have not turned in your swimmers Swim-A-Thon money, I have extended the deadline to Tuesday, June 20th so please get that to me or one of the other members of the board at practice today, tomorrow at the meet or Tuesday at practice.
Thank you all so much and we can't wait to take on the Promontory Point Piranhas in our last dual meet of the 2023 swim season!!
See you at the pool!
