*CHAMPS MEET - IMPORTANT, PLEASE READ!!*

    Good evening, Tiger Shark Families!

I am coming to you with some new and updated information about our Championship Meet...our league president has been working her fins off behind the scenes since November of last year to secure us a venue to host our Champs meet and while she thought she had it all in place to hold the meets on Friday, June 23rd and Saturday, June 24th, the SWISD Aquatic Center, where she has been planning to host it for all these months, completely pulled the run out from under her last week and notified her that instead of the $10,000 they were going to charge the league to host it, they will now be charging her $33,000 to host it, which is completely out of our price range. She immediately started looking for other pools that could host us, and the only one she found that is willing to allow us to hold our Champs meets, at all, is the Northside ISD Natatorium. Unfortunately, the 23rd and 24th of June are not available and the only 2 days that are, are June 30th and July 1st, and we are having to combine 2 divisions to only have 2 meets, rather than letting all 4 divisions have their own meet.

The Tiger Sharks grew by leaps and bounds this season and we are a Division 2 team and will be competing in the combined Division 2 & 4 Champs meet on Friday, June 30th. The meet will begin promptly at 10:15am (warms ups will be from 9:30-10:00am) and will end no later than 2:30pm, with everyone cleared out no later then 3:00pm.

This date change is outside of the projected Schedule of Events we put out at the beginning of the season, and is after our End of Season Party that will be held on June 26th, so many members of our board will not be in town to attend the meet ourselves. We are super bummed about the way it all played out and know that if the date hadn't changed, many more families would be able to attend!

Below is a Google Survey that I really need EVERYONE to fill out (only 1 per family please) so we can get a good understanding of how many Tiger Sharks would be able to attend the Champs Meet at all, with the change in date and location. Included in the survey is a question about whether or not you would be able to fill a volunteer spot, if you are able to attend, as we are required to bring roughly 20 volunteers.

    MSSL Champs Meet Attendance

The Champs meet is a lot of fun, but please know that this one will be very different with it being 2 combined divisions and instead of us competing against 4 other teams, we will be competing against 14 other teams. Because of that, not everyone who would be able to attend the meet will be selected to swim in the events they would at a regular dual meet, but rather, the coaches will need to pick the top 3-4 swimmers with the fastest times in each event. We know that it's not fair, but we will do everything in our power to make it as fair as possible! This meet is going to be fast and furious so I just want to prepare you all for that!

Please note, if your swimmer is able to attend the Champs meet, we will continue with a modified practice schedule for the last week of June and more details would be sent with those times following this weekends meet.

AND FINALLY...I completely goofed when I was setting up the Volunteer Duties for our last away meet and this Saturdays home meet and we currently do not have anyone scheduled to donate items to our concession stand, work the concession stand, be our event board flipper, be a runner or be our head timer! (insert hand slapping forehead emoji here) So, all that being said, if you are able to do any of those things at this weekends meet, or you were scheduled to do one of those jobs for the away meet and lucked out, please text me ASAP so I can get you added to the volunteer list!

Please let me know if you have any questions at all and thank you all for your patience and understanding as this rapid-fire information is being thrown at us!

    See you at the pool,
    Aubree, Team Rep
