2nd Dual Meet vs. Oaks of Sonterra Sharks Info!

Hello, Tiger Shark families! Our 2nd meet is this Saturday, June 3rd at 8:00am vs The Oaks of Sonterra Sharks and we can't wait to see OUR Tiger Sharks back in the water competing! This email contains all the information you need for Saturdays AWAY meet so please make sure you read over it carefully!

First though, tomorrow we will be having Fun Friday Practice with donuts and ribbons from last weekends meet! The kids will still be practicing but with some extra fun thrown in! Additionally, the Tiger Shark Swim-A-Thon Fundraiser IS ON for this coming Monday, June 5th at the Tiger Shark pool, during normal practice times, so our Tiger Sharks will be in the water every day next week! More information will be coming tomorrow or Saturday about the event, but just a heads up that it WILL BE happening and we hope all the Tiger Sharks are able to attend!

Now onto the meet...check-in time for all Tiger Sharks swimmers is no later than 7:15am as our warmup will begin promptly at 7:30am and the meet will start immediately after that. Please make every effort to be there on time! Once swimmers arrive, they need to check in with myself or Erin Bell, who will be located under our orange team canopies. The meet will take place at The Oaks of Sonterra pool and the address is 19645 Battle Oak, 78258. There is very limited parking within The Oaks and they ask that we please park along the subdivision streets but not directly in front of the pool area. Please make sure you give yourself plenty of time to arrive and park because I do not know how close the parking situation will be to the pool.

You will find 3 documents attached in this email:
    1) Meet Program (Heat Sheets) with Combined Events
    2) Individual Swimmer Events by Alpha
    3) Volunteer Duties

For our new families, the Meet Program/Heat Sheets are the order in which the meet will run. It lists the event name and number, heat number and then swimmers' names in the corresponding heats. Please print these off and bring them with you as we will not have extra copies. Click the link below for a quick guide on how to read a heat sheet!
How to Read a Heat Sheet

Please note the combined events that I have listed on the front page. This is done when an event only has 1 heat and 1-3 swimmers in each event. Two or more events are combined if there are less than 6 swimmers collectively to speed up the meet and is very common practice. The Individual Swimmer Events by Alpha attachment is just so you can see a list of your swimmer's event names and numbers. The first number is the event number, then the heat number/lane number and then the event name. The below line would read: Event 16, Heat 2, Lane 4, 50 yard Freestyle:
    #16 2/4 50yd Free.

Please pack sharpies for your swimmer to write their events on their arm! An example of how to mark their arms is below and veteran parents and older swimmers will be available to help mark! The coaches will be very busy with warmups and last minute meet changes so please ask someone other than them to assist with this!

    Event # | Heat # | Lane #
         1      |       2    |    5
        17     |       1    |    3
        36     |       3    |    1

The Volunteer Duties attachment is a list of all of Saturday’s parent volunteer jobs. Everyone, please look this over and if your name is on this list, you are responsible for working the job listed. If for any reason you cannot fulfill this job duty, you are responsible for securing your replacement. If you cannot find a replacement, please contact me ASAP! If you are volunteering, please check in with myself or Erin Bell, who will be under the orange team canopies!

Finally, it is important that our swimmers stay together near the Ready Bench area under the orange canopies! This meet will move very quickly and our Ready Bench volunteers cannot be running all over the pool looking for swimmers before events. It is the responsibility of the swimmer and their family to make sure they are at the Ready Bench spot prior to their events. If your swimmer cannot be found and they miss their event, there is nothing we can do! Please note, Ready Bench volunteers will be calling 8-10 events ahead, so stay alert!

Please take a minute to visit our website at lctigersharks.swimtopia.com and click on the “Swim Meets” tab for detailed information about the "Volunteer Duties" and "What to Bring to a Swim Meet," along with the "How to Read a Heat Sheet" link!

If you have any questions once you have read through this e-mail and the attachments, please don’t hesitate to reach out! I know this was a lot of information and we have a lot of 1st time families this season so I want to make sure everyone is comfortable going into the meet!

Thanks so much for all your support and we will see you Saturday when our Tiger Sharks take on The Oaks of Sonterra Sharks in our 2nd dual meet of the season!

    See you at the pool!
